Automated campaigns are designed to help you recognize important moments without needing to send each gift manually. When a gift doesn’t go out as expected, it can be disappointing — especially when the moment is meaningful to the recipient. If you believe someone may have missed a gift, you can review your campaign data to understand who was expected to receive a gift, whether it was sent, and what may have prevented it from going out.
Why might someone miss an automated gift?
There are a few common reasons why an automated gift may not be sent.
1. Billing or payment issue
A gift may not send if there are not enough available funds or if the payment method fails.
Check the following:
Do you have enough available budget to send the gift?
Is your billing method active and up to date?
If you use Instant Pay, has your bank approved or recognized activity from Snappy.com?
Did anyone on your team receive an email notification about a billing or payment issue?
If a payment fails or there is not enough budget available, Snappy will send an email notification to help alert your team.
2. Missing or incorrect recipient data
Automated campaigns rely on recipient data to determine who should receive a gift and when.
Check the recipient’s information to confirm:
The recipient is included in Snappy
Their email address is correct
Their relevant date, such as date of hire or birthday, is present
Their relevant date is accurate
Any required fields for the campaign are completed
For example, if Jill’s date of hire is missing or incorrect, Snappy may not be able to identify Jill as eligible for a work anniversary gift.
3. Campaign filters or eligibility rules
Some automated campaigns include filters or eligibility rules that determine which recipients are included.
Check whether the recipient matches the campaign criteria, such as:
Department
Location
Employee group
Custom field values
Other filters configured for the campaign
If the recipient does not match the campaign filters, they may not be included in the automated send.
4. Milestone configuration
For milestone-based campaigns, such as work anniversaries, check whether the recipient’s milestone is included in the campaign setup.
For example, if a campaign is configured to send gifts for 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year anniversaries, a recipient celebrating their 2-year anniversary would not receive a gift from that campaign.
Check the following:
Which milestone years are included in the campaign?
What milestone is the recipient currently celebrating?
Is the recipient’s anniversary date correct?
Is the campaign active for that milestone year?
Example
Let’s say Jill did not receive an automated anniversary gift.
To investigate:
Download the campaign projection list.
Download the Gift Activity report for the same date range.
Check whether Jill appears in both reports for the same expected send date.
If Jill appears in the projection list but not in the Gift Activity report, review the possible causes:
Was there enough budget available?
Did Instant Pay fail?
Is Jill’s date of hire correct?
Is Jill included in the right recipient group or filter?
Is Jill’s milestone year included in the campaign?
For example, Jill may not have received a gift because:
There was not enough budget available or Instant Pay failed
Jill’s date of hire was incorrect or missing
The campaign only includes 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year anniversaries, but Jill is celebrating a 2-year anniversary
How to identify who missed a gift from an automated campaign
Automated campaigns help you send gifts automatically based on recipient data, campaign rules, and billing settings. If someone expected a gift but did not receive one, you can review your campaign projections and gift activity to identify who may have been missed.
This article explains how to compare your campaign projection list with your Gift Activity report and what to check if a recipient did not receive an automated gift.
Overview
To determine whether someone missed a gift from an automated campaign, compare:
Campaign Projections
This shows who was expected to receive a gift based on your campaign setup.
Gift Activity report
This shows which gifts were actually sent.
If a recipient appears on the campaign projection list but does not appear in the Gift Activity report for the same gift date, they may have been expected to receive a gift but did not.
Step 1: Download your campaign projections
Start by downloading the projection list for the automated campaign you want to review.
Your campaign projections show the recipients Snappy expects to include based on your campaign settings, recipient data, and timing.
When reviewing the projection list, look for:
Recipient name
Recipient email
Expected gift date
Campaign or milestone details, if available
Step 2: Download your Gift Activity report
Next, download your Gift Activity report for the same time period.
The Gift Activity report shows gifts that were actually sent through Snappy.
When reviewing the report, look for:
Recipient name
Recipient email
Gift send date
Campaign name
Gift status
Step 3: Compare the two reports
Once you have both reports, compare the recipients listed in the campaign projections against the recipients listed in the Gift Activity report.
A recipient may have missed a gift if:
They appear in the campaign projection list
They do not appear in the Gift Activity report
The missing gift is for the same expected send date or milestone date
For example, if Jill appears in the Projection list for a work anniversary gift on July 15, but Jill does not appear in the Gift Activity report for that campaign and date, Jill may not have received the expected automated gift.
Step 4: Send retroactive gifts
Once you've determined who has missed a gift, you can easily send them retroactive gifts. Follow the instructions in this article.
