Setting Up Gift Expirations

Gift Expiration Dates

You can easily set expiration dates for your Snappy gift campaigns directly from the Dashboard!

When a gift is expired, your recipient will no longer be able to claim their gift. Any funds that are attached to the gift will be returned to the billing method it was sent from.


Spot Rewards & Scheduled Campaigns 🌟

Under the Settings step of your campaign, you can choose one of the following options:

  • Set a rolling expiration

  • Set expiration date (specific date)
    The default value is 60-days, but you can adjust the date as needed. Minimum day is 7 days. Once the gifts are sent, the gifts will automatically expire on the selected date and time.

  • Never Expire

Automated Campaigns (Anniversary, Birthday, New Hire) πŸŽ‚

Under the Settings step of your campaign, you can set a rolling expiration date.
For newly created campaigns, the default value will be set to 60-days (or the account-level date), but you can simply click on the expiration drop-down and select the option that works best for you.

These gifts will expire on the rolling date at 23:59PM UTC.

Please Note: The minimum days for expirations start at 7-days. If you wish for gifts to expire under 7 days, please manually expire them from the Gift Activity tab on the desired date.


Viewing and Extending Expiration Date

Where to View

  • Under the Gift Activity tab, there is a column labeled "Expires at" that will display the date the gift is set to expire. To view the time, hover over the date.

  • Blank fields mean that there is no expiration date set for the gift.

How to Extend

  • Any gifts that are unopened, opened, and unwrapped with an expiration date can be extended.

    • Hover over the gift β†’ select the 3 dots icon β†’ select "Yes, extend."
      If you approve the gift expiration date, the gift will be extended by 30 days.

  • There is no limitation on the number of times a gift can be extended.

  • You can extend your gifts in bulk by bulk-selecting your recipients' entries β†’ "Extend expiration"

  • Expired gifts cannot be extended. If your gift has already expired, you will need to issue a new gift to your recipient by sending them a new gift.


Updating an Account's Default Expiration

  • Admins can update the default expiration date for the account under the Account Settings tab

  • This default expiration will be set for all campaign types (spot rewards, scheduled, automated), but can be edited on the campaign-level as needed


Expiration Emails and Notifications

Recipient notifications

To increase your claim rate, all gifts and reminder emails will have the expiration date reflected. When a gift expires (automatically or manually), your recipient will not receive a notification.


​​Gift expiration will be reflected on:

  • Recipient communications

    • Expiration date will be added to new gift emails/SMS and reminder emails/SMS

    • New emails/SMS reminder will be sent 7 days & 1 day before gift expires
      ​

  • Recipient experience (snappygifts.com) will display the gift expiration date
    ​
